Why does my life have to be your drag

Just cause I’m black

Does that mean I can’t be happy

A happy childhood

A good family home

Plenty of food with the aroma filling the home

Why is the good times left out of my history

Yes, times get rough due to racism

But we press on and get along

With the freedoms within

Family support and love

Have always been the foundation

Some may not understand

Cause they never had

The love that a black family has.

Not a surprise.

Encouragement should be done daily.

Fear discounted.
